I cannot find a sports(big bore) rear silencer that fits on to my 1994 3.9 efi v8 discovery standard system anywhere, i cant afford the full sports system from rimmerbros does anybody know where i can buy a big bore silencer for the v8 disco so my landy actually sounds like a v8?
 
Hi. I have fitted a replacement stainless steel mid and back box from Janspeed it was a perfect fit and was a very easy DIY job as you can unbolt the hangers and then remove the rubbers. It comes in two parts which are joined in the centre with a bolted flange, much better then sliding the pipe into the other method.
As for the sound, loudish to start with but after 800 mls or so it's now a light V8 "rumble" from the tail pipe, and no sound coming through the pipe or silencer walls which says a lot for the thickness of the steel. As for the price the best I found was £290 delivered from europerformance.co.uk but the system came direct from Janspeed.
U will notice the difference in performance when fitted.
 
Sorry about that robs I have just had a look myself, 8 months ago they had the full range for RR RRC & Discos but now only Freelander.

Yes its cat back system, Janspeed do sell direct I think they wanted about £20 more ie Europerformance were discounting £20, do a search and c if there are any discounts on Janspeed kit for a Discovery.

I knew that I would have to get a replacement exhaust one day (the original LR system lasted 10 years) so I spent some time looking at exhausts at the LR shows and Janspeed had a better build quality better neater welding, better bends, thicker steel so I went for Janspeed.

They also do a cat bypass pipe also if u dont have cats.

Thanks ever so much for that info, i have a manifold and complete janspeed kit for my 2.8i capri and am very happy with it although i new somebody who had a janspeed back box on his rubbishy vauxhall nova who was not impressed with it.

Its amazing how few systems there are out there for discovery's but yes i do have cats on mine. Thanks again discool.
 
Sorry for moving away from discos but my 1976 Mk2 2.0 Capri S has a Janspead steel manifold but is connected to a rubbish ss system, made by silver ...something. It has never fitted properly the bends are wrong took me two days to work that out fitting, taking it apart cutting the pipe and refitting then removing it again, still knocks some times against the fuel tank but as i only use the car to go to shows I just live with it.

I remember a few years ago LRO had to cut about a stainless steel exhaust to get it to fit their disco because the bends were wrong they had a job as well and they were in a fully kitted out workshop.
