Just wanted to say thanks to the old girl for getting me all the way from east sussex to cumbria and back this weekend. a round trip of just shy of 900 in 3 days and she didnt skip a beat. Also averaged 3.29 miles per litre of LPG which i make just shy of 15mpg as she was loaded with 4 adults and 2 kids plus a bootful of luggage i was quite pleased with. well done old girl ill buy you a pint of oil.

Came from Holyhead to West Midlands just over a week ago (170 miles).
The run from Holyhead to Chester along the A55, approx. 85 miles at 85-90 mph (Naughty, I know) with the 4.6 loaded to the gunnels (Er Indoors used to be a sardine packer) followed by the run from Chester to Walsall along the A41/A5...normal single cariageway, not hanging about, gave 24.7 mpg**running on Super Unleaded (97 octane)....who needs LPG ?????????????

** Calculated Fill to Fill quantity, computer showed 25.9 so I double checked and took lower figure.

Someone's nicked your V8 and fitted diesel while it was laid up:eek:

............ jeez makes me think I reall stuck my neck out lol

In the 4.6 drove from stavanger Norway to London in a oner, via denmark/holland/belgium/france ........ that was with a new block just fitted. No idea about mileage but I did calculate it was costing 12 quid an hour ........

Had the 2.5 Dse from scotland to south of france in a oner, then back a week later ..............

have I been dicing with the grim reaper ?????????? :)

In 2009 I went from SW France to Yorkshire in my DHSE towing the caravan including over the Pennines, can't remember the mileage but it was well over 1000 miles. EAS dropped once due to water in a height sensor, quickly reset with the EAS Unlock suite. Average was close to 22mpg I think.

On the other hand...some years ago I gave her a good thrashing at over 100mph+ for maybe 50 odd miles.
The computer readout varied between 8-9.5 mpg !!!

Never did that again.

The engine is a standard 4.6 Gems, no modifications whatsoever, running on Petrol. New standard short block fitted about 35-40K miles ago. Rocker gear, push rods etc. replaced at the same time. I am convinced that the reason for the improvement is down to using Super Unleaded as normally on the same run it averages around 22-23mpg

Off from bordon to cheshire tommorow for the RS6 track day

will report back on the MPG.......best on a run was(with a fuel leak:rolleyes:)

be interesting to see:D
