Hello everybody.

Well it's finally happened, After many years of wishing and many months of trawling Ebay / Autotrader I am eventually the owner of a 1988 110.

It's a county with a 300 Tdi(Disco, unknown mileage ) Lt77 Gearbox, Big Tires ( Not what I was looking for ) and a lift kit of some description ( I'm 6'4 and struggle to get into the truck with the daft bucket style seats fitted).

This project can go either of two ways, either run it with minimal cost or slowly rolling restore it to make it look like one of the Heritage models that I can't afford.

The first of many questions is : 300Tdi cambelt change, do I just use the information from the Haynes manual for a Defender 300Tdi or do I need a Discovery 300Tdi manual ? I have a kit for locking the timing that was bought many moons ago for a Disco 1 that I had.

The second question is : My truck has no reverse lights fitted, I have found the switch on the gearbox with wires on, but the wires are cut about 300mm from the switch, I can't see where they came from to re-join them, does any body know where the wires join the loom ?

Thanks for all the help I have already found on this site and any I will receive in the future.

as for service manuals and parts.

vehicle use the defender manual and parts

engine use the disco manual

Reverse light isnt part of the MOT if not fitted. I dont have one

I will get around to the photos as soon as I work it out ( I'm not the best with computers ).

I need reverse lights as I live off the main road and reverse parking can be a bit difficult, but thanks anyway.
