Hi all,

I have lurked since my last P38 about 6 years ago and have just taken the plunge on a new to me 1999 2.5D. I don't actually know what letters come after the car but I know it doesn't have electric or heated seats, so that might be telling?

I have already used this site to do a lot of research and it has put my mind at ease about a lot of issues I might have. I work away on a 4 week rotation and so getting my hands on the old girl might take some time but I will post any fixes I manage on here and they might just be helpful to someone.

Almost no mechanic experience (changing the odd serpentine belt) and a cack hand....Wish me luck!

Welcome to the forum

Thank you for the welcome. I have already learned so much from some of the write ups and can't wait to get stuck in! Major jobs are;

1) Outer drivers door handle that has come away from the gubbins inside the door
2) Bottom tailgate that sounds like it is working but doesn't move after making all the right noises
3) Removing some awful 19" Range Rover Sport rims and putting some 16" ones back on
4) Headliner which sags so much it puts some of my old dinner ladies to shame
5) Air conditioning system that sounds like it is about to take off but doesn't actually blow anything in to the cabin

I will keep the forum posted, if not just for everyone else's enjoyment of finding out how one man can turn what seems to be a fairly simple task in to problems which could break lesser men!

This is what I have taken on but I am certain it isn't nearly as bad as it looks! I think getting that rear quarter glass back in place might be an issue though but I will find out very soon. I start next Monday!

Have a look in the Tech archive top left off range rover section for a post by Dopey, its a write up on how to recover the headlining.

My mate had that colour, shame was he had to scrap his. Well not that much of a shame as I needed a new engine and gave it a home:D:D
Loads of help in Range Rover section of forum. Call in and join in the fun
