I have been locked inside my Discovery. I had to gain the attention of a neighbour by using the horn. All I had to do was press the keyfob to release the locks. But I wonder how I locked myself in the car. Could I have pressed the keyfob Lock button?

To answer your question, quite possibly.
Does the door lock/unlock button on the dash not work then?
Did you try turning the key in the ignition and if so what happened?

My car locked itself yesterday, with both sets of keys on the drivers seat. Found the lock button on one of the fobs faulty, and was just making random contact, the led was flickering now and again. Had to fish out the keys with a wiring rod and hook.

Probably you must have pressed the lock button on the keyfob by accident which activates superlocking that immobilises the internal door handles. The interior locking switch cannot unlock supelocking which is why you had to use the keyfob to release the locks.
