hi i got 1988 3.5v8 r/r classic. whats happened i fitted some 4 branch manifold pipes today. i took cables off starter motor and refitted them .and since i have done this i get a clicking noise will not turn over. i have checked power when key turned and i have lost power to the brown/red wire to starter solenoid.. so i have traced the white wire with red stripe from ignition and when i turn keyto start car i have power. i have double checked wires were i was working and cant find anything that may have come apart. so i am trying to locate the starter relay but not sure were its location is.if i can trace this i could bring the side which becomes live once ignition is turned and bring my own wire down to the started motor. so anyone know were this relay is please.

There are two small wires that go to the starter and these break easily, may be worth checking. Standing at the front look into the engine bay, the starter relay should be on the left of the windscreen washer bottle from what I remember...

hi you know the 2 small wires you say go on starter. you got one that goes to solonide which starts the motor were does the other one go .i took 3 thick wires off one turminal which is on the solonide held by a nut. the small thin one went on a spade connection on solonide.is there another small thin wire .as its got to be something to do with that as i had to disconect the cables to get the 4branch in.regards paul

It's a long time since I've had a Classic, I could be wrong, you should be able to see how many wires there are in the loom... I remember one to the starter and one to the solenoid but it could vary throughout the years...
