I spent ages searching so after a long time eventually found the engine earth to chassis. Might help someone. First remove the plastic covering in the right hand wheel arch. Then the earth is on the right hand side as in photos.

I’m have an srs issue of less than 9.6v. Battery drops to 8v on starting. Looking at the earths first. I cleaned this one and covered it with copper grease.

Hi Daniel, been a victim of this dreaded earth strap before, fortunately, had a mechanic take care of it whilst changing the alternator.
A few more earth locations, just in case you are short of something to do

Tricky

Thanks for extra diagrams (they will help). My battery only drops to 10.3v with multimeter but shows a drop to 8.3 when plugged into carsoft when starting. Possibly an issue with the ECU ground. Will report back if solved.

Did you charge it before fitting?
It’s 12.8v at rest and drops to 10.8v on crank when checked with multimeter. I’ve checked the drop from negative and positive to started motor and both less than .3v. seems the issue is more with the ECU voltage reading than the battery or starter. But could be wrong on that

So battery is definitely fine, no drop overnight.

Might just have to bring it to garage which pains me. Carsoft still showing 8.8v min when cranking, which is setting off the SRS less than 9.6v fault code (bringing red srs warning on dash).

Multimeter readings are fine, even at FL2, no drop in voltage when cranking to talk about. Same at fuse 53 in passenger compartment. Btw here are some pictures if anyone ever trying to find FL1 to FL5.

They are behind the battery, remove the black cover and the again at the bottom there is another black cover to be removed. The FL 1, 2 and 3 are under the black cover.

Generally ignore the diagnostics voltage & measure with the multimeter whether it's battery, fuses, ECU's, etc. If battery & main fuse voltage are still 12V when cranking, then the drop must be somewhere else.

What's the voltage on the starter motor when cranking ?
Check voltage before & after each fuse while cranking ? Same at the ECU's in case it's in the loom(s)
