i live on the Surrey Sussex Kent borders (East Grinstead)-

Can any one please recommend a good local garage for my P38 – I got a whole lot of bits that need fixing but dont fancy remortgaging the house.

Welcome To the site paddie. Not sure about local but there is a 4x4 centre on the A22 heading towards eastbourne about 20 mins from EG. What sort of things need doing to your P38? I think it's called southern 4x4

Try Andy at AJS for a recommendation (top of M25 by Redhill) - they mainly do Defenders/Discos and tyres. He's been there for 30 years so will likely know some good ones.

well where do i start - steering a little (!) loose - vibration at 70 mph, - a whir from underneath - cruise control not working - a little oil in the water -drivers side window making a racket when shutting - suspect leak in the suspension etc etc etc -

Drivers door probably needs a strip out and clean up. Steering could be track rod ends drop arm ball joint. bushes, knackered steering box. I replaced the whole lot on me classic. Could even be bearings.

I'm off to IOW soon otherwise I would have had a look for you. I live just down the road from you. But not back until the weekend
