All of a sudden she started running rough, so checked and I have pressure in the rocker cover, I thought it could be HG but no oil/water contamination, so was wondering does anybody have any ideas ?
Ps loads of smoke comes from rocker aswell

Cheers

You have pressure in the rocker box, do you also have pressure in the expansion tank, Personally I would plump for head gasket, I have seen LR heads where the gasket has gone but just missed water ways, did one like that about 6 years ago.

I have seen this with a burnt piston...
Injector over fueling / incorrect spray pattern, over heats piston.. Etc..

Pressure in the rocker cover is normally a piston / rings fault.. If there is no water loss etc

most of the time with hg on the 300 you don,t get water oil mix ,
take the rocker assembly off and lift out the push rods to see if any are covered in carbon

Like he says, a piece of ****. I've done mine a few times, but make sure you put the new HG on the right way round, or you end up with oil everywhere. Like me.........what a prat!!!

my head gasket went at the rear between piston and pushrod causing pressure and blowing up thro pushrod and out of rocker cover. water and oil were fine. as above hg very easy to do. just make sure everything is clean and take your time
