Live feed?????

RR 2000 Vogue - I am replacing a rear DVD player (fitted to where the ashtray was) and the old one had a red and black wire. The new one has red, black and YELLOW wires and I have been told that I have to attach the YELLOW wire to a "LIVE FEED" - anyone any idea where the nearest one is e.g will there be one on the rear footwell lamp and if so does anyone know how I pop it out.

If possible I am trying to avoid taking out the full centre consol to get to a live feed

The lamp one probably won`t be heavy enough. try looking down the sill trim, may find one in the loom there.

Otherwise you could always just connect the red and yellow lives together, and connect them both to a switched live, because i cant see why you would need a constant live to a dvd player, when the ignition is off? Sam

A constant feed is there for DVD memory so when you switch it on it continues playing from the place it was at when it was switched off. If you`re not fussed about that then yes, connect them together.

My alpine does that anyway, even if the battery is disconnected it starts from where it was last stopped, Sam

It`ll have a built in capacitor for memory!
