Right some of you will have seen my thread about the P38 i bought and some pictures of it here
http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f10/worried-if-ive-done-right-thing-now-bought-v8-55271.html

Well there are some problems. The LPG won't work properly, when i press the button it basically feels like its firing on only 2 or 3 cylinders, the garage said it was working a dream when it came in but has been sat for a few months, i managed to get £500 off because of this.

I'm wondering if maybe the gas has "gone off" and maybe if i vent the old gas (is that possible??) and refill it then maybe it will work. Also wondered if maybe the injectors have become blocked. It runs faultlessly on Petrol just not on LPG. Any 1 got any ideas?

Also the Cruise doesn't work, when i press the button i can hear the relay or something clicking under the steering wheel so i dont think its an electrical fault just thought some one may have experienced this before i start my investigations.

Well thats all the faults (just 2) other that that its great and i'm looking forward to enjoying ownership, i'm now gutted about my business trip to Arizona for 5 weeks as i won't be able to drive it lol

Once again thanks in advance

As far as the cruise goes, open the bonnet and as you look at the engine bay you will see the diaphragm that operates the cruise on the right hand side near the scuttle panel - check for cracks in it and also the small bore pipes leading to it
As for the gas - get it checked out by a reputable installer using some of the £500 you saved ! :D

Cruise control is almost certainly the vacuum pipe cracked/split. Change the whole thing for a few pounds. Gas doesnt go "off " so I would expect something is gummed up. Do you know if the system is single or multi point? It would be a good idea as mentioned to get the whole system checked - also, If you didnt get one with the car, you will need a cert. for insurance reasons. A registered installer will be able to supply this.

hi so you went ahead and did the deed then :) welcome to the fold :) , the gas injectors presuming its multipoint dont block , they are just a basic nozzle type nothing fancy .
is it multipoint or single point ? easiest way to tell is look at the air intake from the filter box the the plenum chamber and look to see if there is a large circular device fitted with a hose running to it if so then its single point .
the advice already given is the best in all honesty , no matter what system you have take the car to a specialist a have them give the lpg system the once over , they should be serviced anyway annually to keep them right and in tune .
if you do have single point it may be worth asking how much to convert to multipoint as they a much better suited to the p38.
your cruise control fault is a common enough fault as already said start by thoroughly inspecting the vacuum pipes they are renowed for perishing and not just the ends either check the whole length.
rick.

I have a single point & am looking to get it upgraded / converted to multi point - no idea on cost yet

My cruise control also has the same problems, the diaphragm is intact but the pipes are all perished -- Any one know the part number or land rover description name so i can order some more?

Hi folks i looked at the pipes and the diaphragm, as above the diaphragm is great condition but pipes are all ripped and perished. Ive tried fitting new pipes (from spare pipe i have at home) but no joy, so is this likely to be my problem then because these pipes are perished??

I hope so because i love having cruise control!

I replaced the pipes for the CC with silicone tubing i had left over from my tropical fish set up..........i now have cruise control...woohoo

I was looking at the photos you posted in the other thread. What is the button on the left of the Cruise Control? I have a blank in there.

I see. I'll be able to sleep at night now. I was jealous for a bit thinking you had something I didn't. As it's only LPG I am fine again :)
