hiya

sorry guys to ask. but may i run something past u please

ive bought 4 x square lights, a pair of fogs and a pair of driving lights,

ive been measuring up the front on the position and it doesn't look as though they will all fit

now i had a thought, yeh i know dont faint, lolo

if i mount all the four plates on the metal protection bar so the brackets come thought the grill, could i either

mount the pair driving lamps upwards in the middle so they dont block the number plate and the oair of fogs upside down on the ends which mean i can then bet them tighter together and will all fit

or to only mount the two outer brackets, then fit a flat bar across in between the mounting brackets and can then fit all 4 lights in line and I'm not restricted by the grill

i do apologise once again for asking, was thinking of trying to get some roof rack cross bars to use as a bar, as i can drill right through it and run the wires inside the bar

any ideas etc please and hope the person didn't mind me using the pic as a demonstration

many thks and do apologise again for asking

you can not mount fogs on the roof as I believe they should be bumper height but will stand to be corrected

hiya

sorry mate its my fault as im terrible at explaining things as i remember u kindly gave me all the dimensions etc and they must be placed low on the bumper

what i was thinking was fitting all four lights as per pic but mine are square

thought if i fitted the 2 inner ones upright, the driving lights and the fogs upside down on the bracket

so i can squeeze them close together if that makes sense

will try and do a drawing then scan it on here to try and explain better

thks again

plus if i did mount the driving lamps up on the roof rack bar do u get any glare through the sunroof etc please

On the old style of fog lamps, it is the glass lens that throws the beam downwards and to the left, fitting them upside down may mean the beam is thrown up and to the right into the faces of oncoming drivers unless the lens can be fitted either way up.

thks guys

got the bumper off at the moment and just lining the brackets up, will post a pic in a minute but dont think i can have the fogs as i cant have them anymore than 400 mm from the outer edge of the wing so may have to change the fogs for spots

will show u in a bit by a pic

thks

or does it look better like this

but i think the fogs are just outside the 400 mm requirements , and maybe i should swap the fogs for another set of spots

what do u think guys

thks as always

If you fit the two brackets as per LR instructions, the fog lights are more than 400mm from the edge.
I moved them further out to get the spotlights in as well, and they're still more than 400mm.

just a quick point of note, the foglights in the first arrangement where they hang down are in fact the right way up.

depending on how you wire them up, they could be classed as auxiliary driving lights rather than fog lights.

could always do them how you want and plead ignorance if there is an issue, quite hard to tell the difference to the untrained eye looking for a lens pattern....

hiya

packed it in for tonight as james has had enough

ref the fogs i was going to wite them up on a switch

have got the four switch panel that goes in the small cubby hole on the drivers side, the spots will go on and off the high beam

plus notice some wires behind the bumper that wernt plugged into anything

any ideas please

plus do u think were ive got the fog lights hanging down and the other spots the other way look ok, we just just taped the brackets on for an idea

do u think it looks ok please

the wires are as follows

Front fog lights and driving lights are not part of the mot.
Re the wires you found, the first picture is probably the two connectors for the FBH unit, the second the connector for the FBH temperature sensor.
There should be a spare connector by the rear fuel pump as well for the FBH fuel pump.

wasn't to sure to be honest

just didn't want to fit them to then find out they would fail on a mot

don't think they look to bad, will look better once the brackets etc are fitted and tightened up

the brackets come with a set of rivnuts, have never used them before but think there self explanatory , lol, plus got the rivnut tool as well

just got to see if ive got a sharp enough drill bit otherwise will pop down the road and buy a new drill bit, will save me all the grief trying to use a blunt drill bit

just wondered what the spare wires were for, just looking through the halfords book to see if i can trace them and what they are

suspect one set is linked to the rear fog light switch, ?????

just preferred getting the square lights as the main headlights were square

hopefully should be a lot better down the country lanes or in the middle of know where
