My series has 2 spots on the front A bar. Have changed these to 4 on a roof bar but!!!. Took power from orig to the four so that they only came on on main beam and go off when on dip. Wouldnt turn off on dip, oh bugger old ones did. ****ed around for a bit then front headlights stopped working one at a time and then main beam blue light wouldnt go off.
Then completely wired the new ones in with the proper relays etc etc and no difference. Lights would work off of the switch but not with the main/dip switch. Checked power to headlights and all ok, so removed bulbs. Guess what, spots worked as they should, on and off with main and dip switch. Hurrah. Went and got new headlight bulbs, put them in and "oh bollocks" same as before!!!! headlights not working at all. How can that be if the power is getting to the bulbs.

Im lost:(

Dunno what's causing your problem but you need to have them run through a switch or Mr Plod will be after you. Roof mounted lights are illegal to use on the road. Unlike most truckers seem to think.

Not sure about the wiring on a 2 but I'd get a wiring diagram, remove all the extra wiring and get the headlights working first. Then we can sort the driving lights.

A few things.
Negative or positive earth system ?
if it's positive earth, you've probably melted the switch internals.

Consider the info below....

Standard 55w spot x2 pull appx 10 amps.
55Wx2 = 110W
110W/13.7V = 8A (rounded)

Now consider that you've just plonked 4 55w spots on the same ( i'd assume dodgy) circuit...

55Wx4 = 220W
220W/13.7V = 16A (rounded down)

Add to this, the pair of full beams..... See where i'm going with this ?

I'm curious - How were the spots wired / switched originally? Were they simply spliced off the loom, as your comment above suggests there were no relays in the original setup ? This seems to be a regrettably common bodge I see all to often.

The Series wiring is blissfully simple, so i would suspect the extra switch i assume you've wired in has introduced a loop or bridge into the circuit, or you've managed to melt/break wiring somewhere.

Do as Oxides says - know what your doing with the wiring 1st and do the job properly knowing how the system functions before adding more draw on the system.

Thanks for yr help, all sorted. Lights were all wired properly and with relays. It ended up being a break in a headlight earth. Found it by luck. All working super duper as it should !:)
Thanks again
