Hi all. I've been considering getting some light guards front and rear. I found a place that sells them for a reasonable price but after reading the description it says they are plastic, and that the original LR ones were plastic too. Is this correct? I would have thought plastic ones would have been purely for show and offer no protection. I did find steel ones at twice the price that seem to make more sense protection wise. Has anybody else fitted these, if so are they metal or plastic?

Factory light guards are glass reinforced plastic and mostly for decoration.

Impact regulations would prevent LR from making the vehicle less safe in an impact with guards in place, so the guards are designed break in such situations.

Thanks Nodge. Would it cause me any bother if I was to install the metal ones? With MOT etc.
