Can't remember what the actual symptoms were, but I replaced my goosed lift pump with an electric one - live from the stop solenoid, earth to chassis....problem solved.

Looks pretty good that, where did you get hold of it from? The reason 4 the thread is my 90 td struggles to get up sum hills in 3rd and lacks any oomph on most inclines. I've dun all the usual stuff, filters etc, so I thought the lift pump mite be on it's way out.

Got it through my local friendly 4x4 garage - about 60 quid I think. Might be cheaper ones available. Will have a look later and see if the capacity is marked.

Struggling to get up hills in 3rd and lacking power = a 2.5TD engine - mine is exactly the same - i suspect like mine oil blows out the breather pipe and iff you take the oil filler off you get a puff of smoke out if you rev it up - bottom line is prob needs new rings, valve guides (+/- valve regrinding), new big ends, new main bearings etc.........

Or a 200tdi engine?

I'm still trying to decide either get a 200tdi engine, or sell it to somebody who does not know what there like, and buy a newer landy (but then i will have to start at the begining in fixing up the rest of it)

I presume that your refering to the diaphragm that controls the aste gate on the turbo? - Well, I had a new turbo fitted about 2 years ago and although it does spin up its never been quite the same since - was considering putting a pressure gauage on it to see what it was actually doing as it does not spin up as much as it used to (i.e. it does not wine away like it used to but this may be because it was set too high and what caused it to fail................

my fuel lift pump went a while ago notice real lake of power, it was pulseing like id run out of fuel thought nothing of it, 2 days later cut out under heavey throttle and stald changed fuel filter by the side of the road did about 5miles no probs then noticed that there was no real acceleration died on a roundabout... started up fine but died as soon as i tried to pull away.
i changed the fuel tank the week befor and thought i had a blockage so took the tank out flushed the pipes bleed the system to make sure there was no air locks. put all back together and still the same.
then my dad said it will be the lift pump...bastard was right!half hour to change over £40 for the bit and she fired straight up

Fixed it - found a ball of algee growing in the fuel filter!- Running at 70-80mph up hills fully loaded! - finding it hard to drive slow now :)
