My lift pump packed up a few months ago so taking on board the standard advice I did'nt go for the cheapest option, I went for a mid range pump called simply "Quality aftermarket" so last week I had all the symptoms of lift pump failure again so I thought, ok, you get what you pay for and I bought the most expensive one this time, nearly twice the price Delphi brand.

They were EXACTLY the same, the only difference was a delphi sticker on one of them, I checked, there were exactly the same small imperfections in the casting molds, from the same factory. So sometimes you DONT get what you pay for unless you think a delphi sticker is worth £15!!

It turns out it wasn't the lift pump at all :mad::mad::mad:

Which is probably the same problem we had that day out green laning

Ah ha, you not got a sedimentor on the line from the tank to the lift pump?

I had a random notion of fitting one of those in line bulb pre-filters under the boot floor inspection plate to stop crud getting to far up the lines.

Good to see you’ve resolved a problem for next week ;)

No sedimenter on a 90. But you can get a nice barrel filter to sit under the seat. I will look in the spares box for you.
Facet barrel pumps have an inbuilt removable filter. But won’t stop the crap going up the pipe.
