lift kit

so im looking for a lift kit for my series 3 pickup and can only find a 2" maximum. I could not find any pictures of this on google and I don't want to order parts and not like the look as I live in Canada. if anyone has pictures of 109 series landi's with the 2" lift please post. also I would like to know if it is possible to get a larger lift kit for them and if so from where? thanks!

The usual way of lifting a leaf sprung Landie is to fit good quality parabolic springs and gas shocks. This normally gives around 1 1/2" add military shackles and you are at the maximum I know of. The usual why do it ? Applies as standard springs well lubed and not rusted solid are more than adequate.

Easiest way is to get a fully lifted Defender and put the series body on it ..

ISTR that people used to mount the springs above the axles, rather than the standard below, to get an immediate lift .. but this also meant extending props and other changes to get it to work correctly.

Lift the landrover diff is still lowest point.
Bigger tyres gets more clearance for diff.

Why are you needing to do it???

I need it so I can use my landy in the winter. I need it to cut through 3' snow drifts no problem

Bigger wheels as mentioned above, lifting the body\chassis does nothing to lift the axles and diff out of the way

If you want to do the work you can under sling the axles dome pics on youtube lot of work mind

"spring over axle" conversions require some serious thought and effort to do properly

then you'll most likely have trouble getting insurance plus your axle and diff will still only be halfway up the height of the tyre and bulldozing deep snow still unless you fit portals at which you'll only be 'dozing the top of the snow

3ft of snow or more, i'll guess you really need a unimog or tracks or a demountable snow blower

Put a snow plough on the front they make them for defenders.

So if _BIG_ normal tyres are ~32" diameter, you'd be wanting at least double that just to lift the hubs not-quite-3ft above the ground... Top of the tyres probably nearer 7ft to get 3ft of ground clearance above the bottom of the diff.

But, really, this is all the excuse anybody ever needs to have a Haglund. And, let's face it, there's not much justification required. I want one.

I remember dunsfold having an s1 swb with a snow plough attachment a few years ago, it was up for sale for around £7k iirc, car with plough attached.

Spring over axle has to be one of THE stupidist things to do to a series landy .....
