A Galaxy far far away.......
My LHS door locking module is not working correctly.

It will lock with the alarm fob, but will not open, I have to open it with the inner door handle. All the other doors work fine, inc the tailgate.

I`ve had the locking module out, and took it apart as far as taking the black cover off, other than that it looks more trouble than its worth, to start going further.

It looks like in order to get to the electric motors, you will need to drill 2 rivets out, unscrew 5 torx screws, and then carefully unclip the white part, hoping that a million little cogs and sprigs come fly out.

Has anyone been into this locking mech any further?

there was a thread about 3 years, someone with infinite time and patience stripped it down to solenoid level, and bought equivalent solenoids from maplin for around a tenner.

against buying a new one for about £40, and fitting it in about 1/2 hr.

I found a few posts, but they seem to be different modules, well at least they look different in the photos,

Mines a Bosch jobbi, and it looked like I would have to remove 2 serious ass rivets, to get to the motors.

Looks like the LHS rear is going the same way, bugger!!!! O well it`ll keep me busy, I was getting bored with nothing to fix.

struggles to unlock sometimes, you can see he snib, only coming up half way and getting stuck, seems ok when pulling the handle thou.

Well as I was bored an my old hippo seems to behaving ok, I decided to attack my spare faulty lock module, and this is what i found.

1. Lock module:

3. Bottom cover of locking module:

4. This was the fault, one of the motors had burnt out as you can see from the pics. No idea where to get one of these from.

As my rear door is now developing a similar fault I may just swap the working motor out of this module to my LHS rear Hippo one.

So there you go.:)
