Leggy TDV8 or a TD6?

(Data, gotta disagree my friend. Have had no worries with either my 10 year old TD6 nor my 8 year old V8 Petrol for over 3 years. one is on 153,000 and the other approaching 100,000.)

@P118d - Go for the TDv8 if you can, try adn get at least a year's warranty off the dealer. It is heaps ahead of the TD6. I have driven both over some distance adn the TDv8 was miles better.

Forget mileage, number of owners and FLRSH. Its how its been looked after, driven and serviced. I don't go near an official dealer for repairs, parts or servicing. They are amateurs and rip-off merchants. Both mine get indie servicing. one has had 5 owners, no servicing record at all adn drives perfectly!

Get a proper LR/AA inspection if you can b4 buying. I had a motor trade expert help me find mine.

Good luck. you wont regret it. I have had numerous cars adn the RR is the only one that I actually drive for the slightest excuse.

Thanks.. Think it will be a TD6 or petrol on the budget I'm working to... Still, whilst TDV8 seems your pref, you sound happy enough with the TD6... Suppose if I bought a TD6 without driving a TDV8, I won't know what I'm missing!

I int a troll FFS:mad: I wuz only trying to help:rolleyes:

That'll be Buckgramps and Daft and Gemsdad, It's an age thing I reckon;)

Knew you were just trying to help.. Fortunately it appears the gold plated Rupert has concluded am not worthy of 'her' nuggets... Long may it continue:amen:

Pld,

Bought the TD6 first as I was wanting good fuel consumption and lower costs. Averaged C. 25 mpg overall with 28 over motorway long trips. Really comfortable cruiser. However! Have now got a V8 petrol with LPG. Much better driving experience with an awesome sound when flooring it! And ... Costs are the same as TD6 ..... C.24-25p per mile (equate to 25-28 mpg)

If u go for petrol, try and get one already converted to LPG. Or conversion costs c. £900-1000. Depends on how many miles you will do. I don't do more than 10,000 a year. So the lower cost of a petrol will buy you a lot of fuel (V8 petrol gets c. 15-17mpg avge)

The TDV8 is by far the better engine but it comes at a price. I looked at my budget again and again and just couldn't stretch to a TDV8. I will run the low mileage TD6 I have bought for a year or two and then maybe look again.

I am however impressed with the TD6, it's slugs it out fine for what we need and turns in some decent MPG.

We have plenty of faster toys if we need them, the RR is the load lugger and family bus

DB, I thought you said you were only selling your TD6 as you were going overseas to work for an extended period. What happened?
