LED/HID mot failures

I don't know of many people who have converted FL1 headlamps to LED or HID. I had LED mains in my 2005 SE for a while, but took them out when I sold it.

I've not put them in my FL2 yet, mainly because I've been busy with other stuff. But removing them for the annual MOT is no hardship I guess.

Is that not like putting new tyres on for the MOT, then putting the old bald ones back on afterwards?

Presumably they are a MOT fail for a reason.

Similar I suppose, but a bald or damaged tyre could cause a serious incident, but a main beam bulb won't. ;)

I like LEDs, as they are instantly on when switched, but Incandescent bulbs ramp up to full brightness in ½ a second or something. Strangely the FL2 has a slight delay when main beams are selected, as it's computer controlled, but the old fashioned FL1 has a switch, so even adding LEDs to the FL2 is going to result in a delay, which is why I've not changed them yet.
I'm thinking of adding my LED bar instead, mounted discreetly behind the front grill I think. :D
