LED Headlights - Which are best?

Very good FYI on LED head lights and lighting in general..though he is promoting the brands he probably carry, he has still done some great reviews and shared great info overall.

Thats why I said the higher current will cause them to burn out so they need current limiters, I had to edit adding no sense after the 7.9 amp pull.
The video I posted above is as good as it gets to comparison IMO and for over all knowledge led headlight and lighting knowledge.

I like this guys review and explanation in the video.
 
I put it like this...

The lights I buy are £90 right.

Some people blow £40 on a set of fancy bulbs.

If they go wrong, buy another set!!! Both wont go wrong at the same time, so just keep the other as a spare.

True, works out to around US $114.00 but you would still want a half decent pair that works better than the candle lights. Some blow 10 times as much at the watering hole having many pints at a time :)

Without getting into the science of it all, there is enough reviews and basic knowledge to get a half decent set for a reasonable price, such as yours on the 130.

All I can say is I advise against the cheap Angel eye ones on ebay, the light output was dreadful and I actually went back to the "candle" normal ones until the others arrived.

Not IMO, as I'm yet to even see a 'half decent' set for sale. Show me a LED headlight with something like 90CRI and 4000-4500k.

Good to know, heading to Miami soon .... will look at some in person lit up, by those who have demos set up at their shops.

There was one seller who has an angel style kit that was very bright, too bright for some as stated in their reviews, that's why I said its a hit and miss. His demo was good too at 100 feet though he had the lights up sided down lol Video was over a year and a half old.

Ive just bought another set for my 130.

They are FAR superior to the other type on ebay. The penetration is excellent, even into gloomy weather. With a very focused high beam which I like.

£87.00 for a pair and they were delivered within 2 days.

sorry I cant post the link as I am on a work pc but if you do a search for 7" round led headlight jeep in ebay you will find them. Theres a seller doing them for £90 or best offer. He accepts £87 ;)

What has a good CRI and good neutral white colour temp got to do with an aircraft landing light??? Not meaning this offensively, but maybe you haven't understood what those things are, or why they are good for a headlight.

CRI is the colour... Its not an "and" ... to quote "colour rendition index"

The k rating its the spectrum emitted of the light, its important because our eyes only see a limited amount of the spectrum. The boy racers go for a higher K rating to get that ****y blue look but the amount of visible (to us) light emitted reduces beyond around 3000k.

The fact is you keep on moaning about how everythings crap etc etc.

Gets a bit boring.

If I wanted to spend a fortune on having the best of everything I would. But I don't, and neither does the OP. They just want something half decent for half decent money.
 
oh and define "good CRI"

Because theres no such thing.

High CRI's can illuminate certain things well, and other things very poorly (specifically colours and tones) just as much as low CRI's can do the same thing.
 
Having had the landy off the road for the past few years... i'd forgotten how negative this forum can get!
I really appreciate the positive feedback people are giving so thanks for that.

I fully appreciate that a pair of £200-300 headlights in a defender are never going to be as good as those from an Audi... however if i wanted audi quality lights... i'd get an audi!
The fact is, the standard lights in the defender are pretty ****! They are passable at best but when more modern cars drive towards you on country roads, their headlights are so bright that by comparison mine may as well be off!

300bhp/ton... we all have wish lists and ideas of what would be perfect. Your suggestions sound great but at the moment there is nothing like it on the market. You've said your opinion but that doesn't mean it's right.
