Ok....

I recently purchased some parabolic springs from paddocks (along with brand new Marsland galvanised chassis, Procomp 3000+2 shocks and all new shackle plates/bolts/etc). Having completed the rebuild the whole thing leans to the driver's side, about 25-30mm at both front and back (even after leaving the shackle bolts loose and driving for about 10 miles).

Now I know that there is an unequal weight distribution on a landrover (1975 SWB diesel safari) from the fuel tank/transmission/etc (not to mention the fat lump that is going to be sat in the drivers seat), but all of the manufacturers of springs that I speak to say that they do not need to hand their parabolics for LH&RH?????

Can anybody explain this to me, or how I can resolve the problem?

I have changed the springs over from left to right and it made no difference... I have spoken to Paddocks and they and in fairness have been very helpful, but the best that they can offer at the moment is the piecemeal replacement of the springs (currently sending out replacement rear springs to try)

I know that Paddocks had lots of problems in the past with BritPart springs, but I understand that they now only supply GME springs...

Any advice/practical solutions gratefully received

Thanks

Try using Land Rover's spring tensioning technique - Loosen the bush bolts then, using weight or a trolly jack and straps, set the axle to chassis height the same on both sides then tighten the bolts. The manual has distances specified for normal springs but I presume you'll want a bit more for parabolics. Don't forget that there's always more weight on the driver's side 'cos of the fuel tank.

thanks oxides I will speak to Paddocks/GME and see if they can give me the equivilant dimension for the parabolics
