Hi all.
I have recently acquired an 86 pre defender 90. Lovely little truck but let’s just say I can’t park it on anyone’s nice driveway without leaving a few telltale signs!
I’ve owned a 200tdi hi cap for many years and have usually gone to Mark Smiths Landrover for work but this is not always convenient (or cheap). Any recommendations for ‘enthusiastic’ Landy mechanics in the Oxford area? Happy to get my hands dirty but am no mechanic and my usual efforts end in tears!
Many thanks .

Welcome to landyzone regular users of abacus.
Cheap way for leaks, is to carry a scrap carpet to mop up the drips.
Alternatively getting your hands dirty and clean the suspect areas. You can find the leaks whether washers cork seals are perished.

start up a driveway jet wash company and leave the business card at all of your friends houses after you've parked on their drive

There are many YouTube videos you can follow, many jobs can be done without having to be a mechanic.
Don't buy cheap crap seals and gaskets and don't bother putting new seals on worn flanges or stub axles, it won't seal anything!

Hi and welcome!

I‘ve got a 1989 90 which has a similar tendency to mark its territory when parked up. A new steering box helped. But it still leaks in other places. Unfortunately, I can’t help with mechanic recommendations locally to you though.
