HI, being new to TD5's have been building vdubs for the last 10 or so years. The wifey decided she wanted a disco and we went for a 99 TD5 in the end. Now the fun starts, the car was told to of been main dealer service since new from the one owner. Last service & MOT was july 2013.

After a week of driving it I took a look underneath to familiarise myself with the layout, things I found..... Power steering fluid leaking from (I think) the pump outlet, Oil from the handbrake drum and the 3 amigo's turning up on a few occasions (maybe wheel bearing).

That I can deal with but one leak or wet residue I found was on top of the inlet manifold on the back 2 or 3 cylinder inlets, what could cause that ?

could this be caused by the rocker gasket drying up and leaking at the back ? or the rear camshaft seal ?

even though it's our second car we need it for towing duties in hte next couple of weeks, so after that I was thinking of getting every seal under the sun and the PAS pump and replacing things from the ground up.

Also i've been tempted to power wash the engine from underneath to localise any more oil leaks but the other half didnt want me to do it, is it ok to do it ?

cheers
chris

rocker gaskets do leak with age, easy to change just dont tighten bolts to much, think 10newtons torque is about right
