I replaced my vacuum pump a few weeks ago but didn't set the engine to TDC when refitting and it didn't seem to fit tightly to the engine and now it's leaking pretty badly from the gasket. With me not setting engine to TDC is there a chance the lobe didn't fit right leaving a gap between engine and pump?

I recently stripped and refitted mine as the end-plate was leaking. I didn't set TDC either but can't see any leaks. Are you able to nip up the bolts now that the engine has been running ? Did you use a new gasket between the pump and the block ?

Just had a closer look, got a bit of a turn on each bolt so hopefully that'll help but while I was there, I noticed the hose that goes to the oil breather from the back of the engine looks like it's leaking. Can't seem to find the hose on eBay though.

The vacuum pump just unbolts and bolts on. No need to worry about TDC.
The oil breather hose is a common leak point, unbolt it (one bolt), wrap a bit of PTFE tape around the tired rubber 'O' ring and bolt it back on.

He says the hose is leaking not the cyclone.
600mm of 1/2" ID oil resistant hose from a pneumatic place will sort it, thinish wall stuff, its nowt special.
I used braided garden hose to get me self outta the crap once, it was on there 12mths no probs.

I've just bought a replacement one. Hopefully that's the problem. Once it's on I'll jet wash it to see if there's any more oil.
