Well mine is leaking but not much yet so I have time.

As I have the newer of the TD5 engines I have an extra pipe that goes forwards to the front of the engine. Well how do you remove it wile not having to do too much work. ATM it looks like a pig of a job so it can wait till spring. I can't see how I can get a spanner to it to undo it.

its not easy at all . i think i could angle the spanner and get a 1/4 turn at a time but the alternator bracket and a few small things needed to be moved . but to get it tight i used a hammer and a long screwdriver , i just couldnt get enough force with the spanner

Its not tooo bad a job.

Once youve taken off the acoustic cover, it makes a bit more room if you remove the engine hoist ring and then cable tie the heater pipes back as far as you can.

Dont do it when the engine is warm either.

Its quite tricky to release the pipe from the fuel cooler, and dont try and undo the return pipe from the front of the engine, ( its impossible ), just bin the one on your new reg and re-use your old one.

The top 2 bolts are easy, but the bottom one you neeed too feel for.

You have to wiggle the fpr housing to get it out, and you must watch out for a tiny O rong and small cylindrical gauze filter behind it.

Care must be taken when re-fitting to ensure that the filter and O ring dont move and get crushed and the crushable gasket is in the correct position.

It can be done in an hour witha bit of practice !!.

Anyone going to do this job checkout www.discovery2.co.uk as they show the tools which work best and take you through it with photos.

Just one thing it's seems that its not the seals that go its the small pressed steel valve its self that leaks internally and you get fuel coming out the hole in the side of it !

with a good light have a very good look to see where leak coming from first ? A mirror on a bendy arm helps, run the engine but be careful regarding the belts at the front of the engine,

You may not know but if you shine your torch at the mirror it will reflect up under things and you can see very clearly !
