With many thanks to all the folks who took time and replied and shared their experiance, to finish off this thread on a good note, while I had the aluminium housing and the pullies out of the engine, I had a go to clean it up but nothing could make shining like new, so decided to paint them with some metallic colour so whenever I look inside the bunnet it would be pleasing. Cheers

Wow that's pretty good

One little thing to check, if you have not already.

The coolant pipe that sits above the water pump pulley and is held in place with that silly little bracket that LR fitted. Make sure it is not rubbing on the water pump pulley, It is amazing how many you see that have a cut out where they have worn on the pulley at some time.

So how did you do the fan in the end?

Cheers

no bracket on mine - that pipe is held out of the way with cable ties on the intercooler hose!

Cheers guys. I made sure the small bracket has easily 5mm clearance to the pulley.
I never managed to get the fan out and as the radiator is working fine just now, I left its replacement for another day.
Had the whole dashboard off this weekend to get to window wipers spindle. Best to make a nee thread for that with photos. Thanks to all.
