G'Day, looking for some help with regards to a what I would term a "lazy starter" (ie) not turning my diesel brute fast enough to start??
I have a 1983 Series IIIS which is a South African model, it has a 3.8 ADD Atlantis diesel engine installed, which is esentially a Perkins, made under licence.
The Starter motor in just about 6 months old, the battery which is the biggest truck battery I could fit under the bonnet, (yes wouldn't fit under the seat) It used to turn over a lot faster.
My question would taking a direct earth from the battery to the starter help in anyway, I have replaced the earthing strap from the body to the motor. the battery has lots of power although it's two years old, cheers
Rgds.

I had the same problem with my 2.25, there was a bad contact from the body to the engine if I remember correctly, take the earth directly to the starter I am sure it will help! Join 4x4community.co.za, lots of local info and Landie guys!
