Think the sensor for controlling dimming of wing mirrors is in the center rear view mirror*.
But they're still cheap as chips :) OEM start at £30, on the bay . Which considering price of the wing mirrors, is a bargain.

* Do you mean 'centre of'? Because I only have one rear view mirror, so I'm getting a little confused by the "centre rear view mirror". Which sounds like there is more than one o_O

Just the rear view
Or as I saw written elsewhere "The mirror used as rear view mirror is to see objects at the backside of the vehicle" tenor.gif

Keep the faith. Mine were replaced as clear not electrochrome by previous owner and it makes me sad every time it gets dark, especially on the motorway.
I have a list of “back to spec” jobs but they’re all waiting for those by chance opportunities to get the parts I need.
Tricky. :)
Well today I bit the bullet and bought a mirror. Chap asked that I didn't disclose price, as he did me a deal. However, it is OEM and it wasn't £300 :)

Ok, the one stuck to the windscreen on the inside between the sun visors thats a waste of time looking into cos all you can see is three headrests on the back seat and tinted rear window, I just use mirrors mounted on outside of doors now (please note not wing mirrors they went out with the early classics).

So the rear view mirror. Sorted. Although I can see the road behind when I look in mine. How dark is your tint and, (as we're being pedantic), do you have your head 'restraints' at full height?

Wing mirrors that go "funny looking", are we referring to what the build doc for my Rangie calls...."Electric Door Mirrors ELECTRO CHROMATIC EXTERIOR MIRROR"?
When it goes wrong it goes all funny coloured?

Head `restraints` low as they go, factory fit privacy glass it is the `vouge` model you know.
Was that one deliberate? ;)
I'm honestly not trying to pick an argument or being awkward, I am genuinely confused as to why you can't see through your standard tint or over your head restraints.

Thought you might like the `vogue` bit @gold rover , the rear view mirror is auto dim as well as door mirrors and mine seem a little dark maybe its faulty I dont know but I spent a lot of time driving vans in my working life so guess just got use to not using it much.

You might be right, there might be a fault. I got in the habit of the 5 second checks , after having it drilled into me by driving instructor. Even although, in the Series III, we could only see out the rear view mirror if canvas was rolled up tenor.gif
