Hi, Iam looking to buy my first landrover as it issomething I have always wanted. I have been looking at getting a 15-20 year old defender 110. however when I look they seem to have a lot of seats in them due to the bench seat. If I was to remover the bench seats and just out a row of 3 seats behind the driver would this change things lke the tax bracket for the car.
The one of the problems I have is my wife doesnt have D1 on her licance so cant drive more that 8 seats.

thanks

i *think* you have to send off the v5 for the new number of seats but as for tax brackets i dont know, i thought that went on the designation, i.e. 'light 4x4 utility'

Flat thanks for that. Glad it is simler than i feared it could be.
Huffhuff, sorry where should i have posted, As im sure ill have more questons over time as I look to get my first .
Thanks

I had a 109 safari station wagon and I removed the very back side seats .. only people I told was the insurance company.. and that was because they wouldn't insure if for carrying 12 people... was 20 years ago now mind..maybe things have changed a bit these days..

you can add and remove seats as you wish , without telling DVLA as its not a factor on your V5 . Insurance company is a totally different matter. current station wagons are only 7 seats with the two face forward seats in the rear.
To remain as classed as station wagon (estate) it needs the second row of seats and a tailgate door to load from the rear . This would have relevance re use in LEZ (depending on engine) There is no tax (RFL) change as its in PLG category already .
