later 300tdi - removing electrics.

On the later 300tdi's that had electrics, what all did the ecu do on this engine and what is different on it from the earlier 300tdi.

Ah its a disco engine... what did they put on them?

On the discos, they had an EGR.

The later ones also had electronic throttle control - there was a position sensor on the pedal, and a stepper motor on the pump.

I have heard (speculation mainly) that you could simply put a proper cable on one, but i don't know.

You would however be able to replace the pump with the earlier cable throttle one.

Right, thanks all I have clarified what the differences are and thanks for the info.

I know about the early 300tdi's as I have one in the disco but I was talking to my friend who has bought a 300tdi auto disco for the auto box and I bought the engine from it. Then I realised being a later one and auto it would have had an EDC - but problem solved.

Dont throw the EDC pump away,they are worth good wedge.EDC was fitted to Auto only from TA on.(1996my)

I will keep the pump... I think its a 1998 engine I have bought.
