Hi all, just fitted rear seats in disco( series 2), are lap belts leagal/mot passable on fold aways? any help greatly appreciated dont fancy buying/ cutting panels.

hmmm, might get away with that one then, this wot manual says:
Most vehicles after 1965 must have seat belts, irrespective of that requirement, all seat belts fitted to any vehicle must be inspected for:

• Security of seat belt mountings and locking stalks
• Security and operation of the locking/release mechanism
• Condition of webbing
• Retraction of the belt (it is permissable to manually feed it in).

Notes:

1 For technical reasons the inertia locking mechanism is not checked.
2 On some vehicles the belt is attached to the seat, in which case the security of the seat to the vehicle would also constitute part of the seat belt check.

it dont mention lap belts:rolleyes:

read further down it gives seating arrangement & belt requirements don't think 2nd row seats need belts also say occasional folding seats in extended limo's don't need belts

More than three rear seats
OPTIONS
A. if one outboard seat has a 3-point inertia reel type belt, then at least one other seat in the rear must have an acceptable belt.

or

B. if any seat has a 3-point static belt, then at least one other seat in the rear must have either a child restraint or disabled person's belt.

or

C. if the vehicle does not comply with A or B above, then each seat in the rear must have an acceptable belt.
Acceptable Belts are
Lap belt, Disabled person's belts, child restraint, 3-point belt (static or inertia reel.)

am i missing summat, is the mot man an ass, so if it has lap belts it b ok?

I think you will need to fit the 3 point belts as the original D2 has them, also don't forget that to get type approval the original 7 seater had fold away head restraints too and i believe had a different suspension setup so by converting a 5 seater to a 7 seater should have this done too, i may be wrong though.
