Wooooh! We just picked up Landy number 2 - 1984 Series 3 ex Coastguard. She came sweetly home, a lovely drive. So far seems to need a tart up but nothing major (and she was meant to be just for spares but now thinking winter car and summer car!!!!!) Hee hee, wot fun.:D:D:D:D:D

I got really excited by your title... thought you'd bought Number 2. Land Rover. (2nd ever made)

But, still, she looks nice :)

Me too........must be the beer taking effect :beer2:

looks nice though so don't break it for bits, and is it me or has it got defender rear lights? (indicators at the bottom)

Ooops!
We were comparing her to our other series 3 - noticed the difference in lights. Everything seems to match up to Series 3 but she is a late one - just bought replacement hub cap for the one she lost and had to get Defender as apparently they were fitted from 1983 onwards?
Learning more and more as we go!!! Luv it!

Nice! I got a ex coast guard too. so was interested in how much they go for, i got mine cheap 1977, wasnt running but now is just had to recondition the starter motor i payed £200! obv no tax or MOT

Petrol - did about 22 mpg getting her home so not bad!
Really want to repaint in original coastguard colours - just got to find out exactly what that was. She has primrose yellow inside roof but looks like new bonnet so not sure whether should be yellow or blue?

Yeh mines got the yellow inside and blue bonnet. I did see one on ebay the other day and that had the yellow roof and bonnet but i didnt think it looked that good! im guna keep mine how it is, personal preference tho

Yup! Gonna try to find out where it came from originally and how it was painted BUT might just do the roof yellow and wheels blue and stick with bodywork how it is. Who knows?!!!:confused:

my wheels r blue, dont think the 1s u got on is orginal. Let me no how u get on with that. If u find out where it orgininally came from can u private msg me how u did it so i cant do mine. cheers

I have a 1984 A reg. 88" that I think might have been ex coastguard, (the one in my avatar) underneath the brown paint it is the same blue as yours. There was evidence of it having been fitted with a winch driven from the crankshaft and flashing lights fitted in the grill, the hand throttle is still fitted to the right of the grill and an extra fuse box, wiring and flasher unit is still in place for the lights. Had to replace the dumb irons as they rotted from the inside and the distributor as it was full of sand!
