Odd species sometimes are females....

Very strange! Since being divorced I can quite understand queers these days!

Those bike thieves are pretty ballsy!!!

I saw that on Twitter, I couldn't believe so many people were sitting in their cars just ignoring the thieves who were blatantly angle grinding the lock off. But then again with our totally fecked up system, if you did confront them and they broke a nail fighting with you, it ends up being you who gets banged up with Bubba & a soap on a rope while they carry on as before.

Yeah exactly which is why people hold back, also people that are brave enough to steal a bike in that way in broad daylight are brave enough to stab/hit with a hammer/badly injure anyone who challenges them. How do you deal with that? Is it worth getting messed up for something that insurance will likely replace anyway?

I dunno it’s a tough call. Would I get out my car and intervene in a situation like that? Honestly, not sure I would - would ring the police sure, but not put myself in danger for a bike. If it was a woman being raped, or someone beating someone up then that’s a different story.

I intervened in a stabbing in Bournemouth once and nearly got the wrong end of a copper till he realised I was helping (didn’t realise it was a knife till after - I thought it was a broken bottle!)

Anyway - sorry to derail the ops thread - best security is to have better security than the landrover down the road from you so they take that one instead!

Not at all - this is all interesting stuff! And that's exactly what I'm going to do. There's a 1980's Landy 90 Hardtop 'round the corner from me which clearly has a Disc Lock on it. I've seen Disc Locks being whipped off by thieves - same with most Crook Lock type ones also. But they're visual and they're also a visual something - rather than nothing - which is what I have now.

So, I think it's probably going to be a £30 Crook Lock from eBay or similar. And, yes, I realise that they're easy to remove, etc... thanks anyway.

No problem. Good luck.
