Hey,

Ive got for sale a landrover defender cross member (rear) that was purchased to replace the one on the 110. It is in great condition although does have a few scratches from storage.

No longer required as we need one with the chassis rails so this has been purchased and then sat in the garage until now. Looking to recover some of the purchase costs ideally. It does come with chassis mounting plates.

Link to my girlfriend's dads ebay listing is here. Looking for ~£90.

Item location is in tenbury wells, wr15. Any questions just give me a shout! http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=141568652662&globalID=EBAY-GB&alt=web

I know that, but if I could get away with just plating the right hand side and replacing the crossmember even just for the mot then it's better than the current state of it

for the effort involved, it's not worth it for the sake of few more quid.

you'll be kicking yourself when you have to patch up the legs :)

More than double the price you mean? As much as I would love one of pressbrakes I don't have £200 lying around at the moment so if I want to get it fixed asap, and it is in **** state, then I'm going to have to look at cheaper alternative. Only the right leg is needing patched at one point on both sides.

Ill double check the make and get back to you pal.

Make is a marshlands chassis (apparently). Hope that helps!

ok, sure it can't be plated for now?

before buying bits, go ant attack the metal with a hammer to see what you need. you usually need to chop back at least a good few inches from any rust spots to get away from thin metal.

The crossmember? Lol no. I couldn't take a photo when I took the tank off as my battery was dead but biggeeeee will tell you what it was like. There's nothing to plate. The rail can be placed, that's not too bad I guess.

from what i've seen it's the rear 'skin' that rusts away, the inner structure isn't too bad.

so if so, cut old rust out and patch that 2mm over the rear.

but i don't know where your rust is.
You've seen photos of it. It's on the inside. The inner structure between the chassis rails is more or less gone. The 'skin' is still there, albeit it a little thin in spots but not rusted through. It's a good bit thicker than a standard chassis so it seems to be holding together fine for now

Where abouts are you based out of interest? I can get more pictures if you need?
