Hello,
I have a 1975 land rover series 3 but seem to have an electrical problem with my rear lights, they don't work, lol. Basically my brake lights and normal lights are on the same bulb but my rear lights don't work and brake lights do? I've tried cleaning the fuse box, swapping fuses, replacing fuses I checked all other lights e.g-indicators?

Can anyone help/or give me any tips?

Thankyou in advance!!:)

Side light rear sircuit open [take it front's work and bulb's are good] If standard there should be a terminal block on the bulkhead near the clutch master cylinder, the loom from it going down into the chassis and then on to the rear light's

You're ging to need a multimeter - check for volts at the bulb holder, then the bullet connectors behind the bulbholders (behind the small aluminium covers) then go back to the multiplug in the engine bay then the output of the lighting switch - this will tell you where the fault lies. It's a red/black wire to the bullet connectors then red to the bulbholders. My money's on the bullet connectors at the back of the vehicle. Bets, anyone?

I wouldn't like to guess. My wires were melted together just where they split left to right under the rear wheel arch. They worked perfectly! I only noticed it when I replaced the rear lights with new! I seem to recall having a similar issue where the brake lights worked but tails didn't and it was the way the bulbs were fitted into the new holders. I remember fiddling with putting the bulbs in and out whilst fettling that little contact disc in the bottom of the bulb holders. Worked eventually but really remember what the underlying issue was. Hate electrics....
