Question:-

Do the Lamda Sensors affect the running on LPG? What would the effect of disconnecting the sensors be?

Thanks

Chris

that depends on your system. If you have a reasonable quality sequential system then yes they are used when running on gas. Disconnect at your peril !

It is a Prinz multipoint system, if that helps.....!!

Why what would the effect be of disconnecting?

You would have nothing to monitor the air fuel ratio so effectivly be running open loop. Poor running, poor economy etc etc.

Why do you want to disconnect them ?

I have been having a few problems lately with the engine feeling a 'little lumpy' when ticking over, hesitant on gentle acceleration ( as if in toolow a gear, Ok when kicked down though..) I had the LPG serviced recently, the emmisions on LPG were fine, but on petrol was running rich, he said something about the lambda sensor on bank two was trying to do something...(did not follow his drift.....) however he said that it was difficult to say if it was faulty as when running on LPG it throws the sensors out slighlty anyway, and somethimes shows as a fault code....

I read elsewhere on here that people have disconnected their lambda sensors as they run on LPG and are having similar problems.... I am just trying by trail and error, to find the cause of the problem without forking out on something that may not be faulty....

The problem is present if running on LPG or Petrol, the leads (Magnecore), and coil have all been changed when I got the car year and half ago....new plugs and oil service, gearbox filter and oil changed.....

Any suggestions?

You need to get it running sweet on petrol before you do anything else. The O2 sensors are easy to check if you have a multimeter. Depending what type you have they will either output 0 - .8v on the later type or 1 -5v on the earlier ones. You should be looking for them to be cycling every second or so between the two values, this shows they are switching correctly. Do this test when the engines warm. A well tuned LPG system shouldnt throw any faults up, it seems to me you man didnt reset the petrol ecu adaptions before setting up the LPG. If the LPG tune is out the petrol ECU will adjust the long term trims so when you first start on petrol it reads the long term trims and sets the open loop fuelling based on these trims therfore runs rough.

Thanks....To be honest I wouldn't have a clue where to start doing this.....sounds like a trip to the garage....

Thanks Anyway.
