L322 Timed Climate issues

Hello again, I am still learning how to work my 2012 L322 4.4 Westminster diesel, It would seem from the handbook and main menu that I have "timed climate" on my RR when I tried to set it (with the temp below 5 deg) I got no response, also the two "manual" soft keys are not lit when I try to set things up.
Where is the heater unit, and do I need to buy a remote to make things happen?
Also, a friend of mine has a same year "Sport" he was asking me if I had the various ride options that he has, I'm not talking about the terrain options, he can select various comfort / stability options.
I hope that when (if I live that long) I have had the RR as long as I've had Landies I may start to understand it (I have put most of it down to senile issues)
Had it Stage 1 re-mapped by Celtic Tuning through their agents in Derby (Mobile Solutions) just waiting for balls to grow big enough to try it now !!

If you do have a webasto, you will see a small exhaust pipe just behind your front passenger tyre. Well, that’s where it is on ours but we have a LHD, so check both sides.

If you are able to set the timer on the screen, set it to start in 5 mins then hang around and if it kicks in you will hear a quiet whine from the front.

Having said that, it will only kick in to heat when the temp is below 5C and to cool when it is over 15C.

Oh, just a thought, if you do have one of those remotes, have you changed the battery? It has a nasty habit of chewing thru them

Thanks for the reply, I bought it through a dealer and there was no remote with it, I'll have a look for the exhaust later. Obviously it's not like the Eberspacher I have in my 110, with that I can turn heater on at any temp. though it only heats the cabin air.

Was it advertised as having a webasto, otherwise known as FBH, few in the UK seemed to take that option from what I can gather. You may have the screen buttons but no heater. I’d be surprised if a LR dealer wouldn’t have given you the remote. If they did advertise it as having a webasto, I’d be in there for a wee chat because the remote is damn expensive.

On ours we have the 2 timers and 2 greyed out buttons below for manual heat and manual vent.

If you cannot see the exhaust, and it is difficult to spot because it is tiny, set the timer for a few minutes ahead, pop the bonnet and loiter around the battery box and if you have one, and it’s not between 5C and 15C, it will kick in and you will hear whirring for a few seconds and then a fan sound will start.

Plug and kettle moment - do the above with the engine off

Failing all that get a build sheet from the dealer, that will settle the matter.

Have been to my local Land Rover repairer and they confirm I have got the heater! I booked it in to have whatever was preventing it from firing up and to ask them to get me a new remote, Apparently the Land Rover remote is very expensive and they said they had fitted several after market remotes. Whilst they were setting it up a message kept coming on saying "Shutting down, Low voltage" They called me and said as the battery was getting on in years a new one may be the answer, I had one fitted but when In tried the heater next morning I got the same message! So, thinking with it being a new battery it may not be fully charged I put it on for about 10 hours.
The Timed climate timer will not make any reaction and when I tried the remote it fired up but only ran for about 5 minutes and then shut down with the same "Shutting down, low voltage" message.
I have a 110 with an Eberspacher FBH and this will run for hours without any problems.
Any ideas before I take it back to repairers please?

What size battery was fitted? Possibly there is a battery drain problem.

The main difference between the 110 and the L322 is the L322 is extremely power hungry. The timed climate runs for 15 or 30 mins. Originally it was for 30 mins but after a recall they should all have been reprogrammed for 15 mins because the batteries were being run down. Many have fitted a second battery or shoehorned in a bigger battery to cope with the power grab.

I am not surprised that the low voltage message came up when they were setting it up. If they had the doors open, internal lights on etc, it takes about 15 mins for the car to shut down due to low power. What size battery did they put in, it should be a 110Ah.

If the FBH is not responding from the screen, I can only surmise that there is a settings issue somewhere and to diagnose that, it will take the testbook at the dealers. I haven’t taken a close look at whether our system reader will diagnose an FBH issue, but if it’s not raining tomorrow, I’ll pop out and shove the OBDii on and see what it says.

Did the garage you took it to give you a clue on why it isn’t responding from the screen?

I'll have to check battery size, when I sat in the cab with doors shut and no lights on as it was daylight the "timed climate" setting was put in with a couple of minutes to go but there was no response when the set time arrived. I then tried the remote fob which did start up the heater only for it to quit after about 2 minutes. I've had it on trickle charge over night so I will try it in a while.
