Hi all,
I’m new to this group and was wondering if I can pick your brains on my old mans car. It’s a 2002 L322 TD6 and it’s not starting.

I’ll start at the beginning so you all can get the full story and what we have done to it.

my dad noticed and also made aware of a fuel leak coming from under the car at the rear left where the secondary fuel pump is. He saw that it was leaking so he brought a brand new one and fitted it, now vehicle would not start and came up with fuel injection system on the dash.
He rang the RAC who came out sprayed some easy start into the inlet but car still would not start, it tried to but then just went back to just cranking.
he had it towed to a garage who plugged it in and it came up with low fuel pressure and was advised it will be the fuel pump in the tank. So instead of forking out over £500 for the garage to fit he had it towed back to his house and purchased a new pump for £47 (Bargain). We have fitted this today and also changed the fuel filter as well. We filled the new filter up with fuel and also primed the car (ignition on 30secs then off for roughly 8 mins) but the f***er still won’t start. I cracked off the first injector line (only one you can get to) and there is fuel getting there. It’s now came back on the dash with fuel injection system, the battery was hooked up to another car so it had plenty of juice to crank over but it just won’t start. We was advised to use brake cleaner, (a short burst of it) instead of easy start and it will run. We tried this and it did start but rough, it revs itself to 1100rpm then slowly drops then cuts out. Now we are back to what’s next.
could it be the HP pump, injectors or something else we have missed. We don’t want to keep throwing money at it just for it to pretty much tell us do 1!! It’s his pride and joy and it’s getting to him not driving it.

So does anyone have any ideas or things to try or has someone had this problem before and rectified it. Any information or tips would be greatly appreciated. Apologies for the long thread. Cheers

Hi, from my experience over the last few weeks after fitting HP pump, once fuel injection system comes on dash you can try and start without any joy till your pulling your hair out, once codes are cleared I had no problem starting which I assume is down to car thinking fault now repaired. so I would look at getting codes cleared first, and see if you have any joy.
