Hi all,

I've a L322 TDV8 58reg/09 car and I'm currently having a number of issues that (according to the car) are to do with the speed sensor circuit, which is tiggering HDC/ABS/Traction Control etc faults.

Fault codes are as follows:
P0500 - vehicle speed sensor A
C1A93 - right rear speed sensor circuit

I've fitted a new speed sensor (direct from Land Rover), changed the car loom end connector (there was a small nick in the wiring cable, but the cable was intact, seemed a good idea to change it) and have inspected the reluctor ring (no dirt or damage to the ring).

Live values from the speed sensor show that it's working, although it seems to be either more sensitive or varying by 1km/h compared to the others. The fault still returns however but is intermittent (as in every journey, but it resets pretty much straight away after car off/on).

I've had all the wheels aligned and the steering angle sensor is fine, as is the battery from what I can tell.

I'm now at a loss.

Is there another speed sensor on the transmission (hence the P0500 code), however no idea why I'm still getting a right rear fault though.

Any help would be greatly received.

Thanks,

Keith

Could be a tyre! I had a similar problem with a Citroen C4. Cruise working then not. Pressing brake and sometimes it would flag up on the dash Speed Sensor and the SERVICE lamp would come on with a beep.

Turned out to be a faulty brake switch! The new one comes with an inflated section of loom (like the wiring inside a bit of bicycle inner tube ) which I assume has some kind of sensitive gadget inside it.

Anyhoo, no idea if that helps, but it was a strange fault in that most of the time, the brake lamps came on immediately, but on occasions (when the warnings came on) it had a few seconds delay before the brake lights lit up o_O Strange

The earlier L322's suffered from ABS ECUs getting fragged by heat in the engine bay (they were above the exhaust manifold) - it was also common the on the E39 5'er Bimmers too....

Not sure on the newer L322's if they suffer from similar heat induced failures....might worth checking out with a replacement, known good, ABS ECU for elimination purposes.
