Hi

Looking at buying my dad a 2004 RR HSE

unfortunately it doesn't have satnav unit just a CD player

Question is if I buy a second hand satnav unit is it simply plug and play or will I need to alter wiring controls etx

Better to buy an after market sat nav. The info is always out of date on the in car unit and it is notorious for failure due to water ingress in the N/S rear quarter where the unit resides. It's possible the wiring is there, but being an L322, it's unlikely to be Plug & Play as it was not fitted originally. Saint V8 would probably know.

Agree with Datatek- my 04 has the standard unit fitted and that has yet to discover some Roman roads! I bought a Garmin with a 6" screen for £100 with free lifetime map upgrades and it is superb.

My mate has done the same but with an even bigger screen Garmin. Works a treat. I don't use GPS much, but when I need it I just use Google Maps in a cheap tablet, works fine too.
