l322 petrol gauge...reading in correctly

help...my petrol gauge has suddenly stopped reading correctly. It stays around the half way mark even when full or if it does go higher then stays there for quite some time then suddenly drops to below half?

any thoughts....can I remove the fuse and reset it?
