L322 intermintent starting issue

I have a 2003 RR vogue. it has an intermittent issue with starting. it opens fine. the key turns in the ignition, the dashboard lights up, but nothing. this is no clicking as if the starter motor has, no noise at all. then I remove the key and try again and it starts. does anyone now if this is a common fault and what is can be?

Check all the wiring to starter for corrosion and clean up give it some dielectric spray and before you connect back up get the multi meter out and turn key to position one put meter on and check you have over 12 volts (13.7v) should be fine.
