MY 03 plate TD6 vogue has what looks like the same gearbox as my mates 330ci bmw in, its got the usual PRND options, but looks like it can be knocked to the left and used manually? Can it?

I'm not planning to as i doubt very much it'll improve performance but just wondered what its for/if its in use

Cheers in advance

If it's anything like my P38 yes it can be knocked to the left and used manually. But only if you like driving around in low axle all the time.

Mrblonde - ever thought of just moving it left and seeing what happens? Or looking in the manual for the car? Some of your posts on here are comical.

Anyway yes, it does go left, puts it into sport mode, which holds onto the revs for longer before changing up. It also allows you to turn it into a triptronic gearbox by pushing the lever up or down once over to the left. All this is displayed on your lcd display below the main clocks when you move it.
