Hey all,

I'm trying to troubleshoot a non-starting diesel heater on a recently acquired 05/06 L322. Before I go taking too much apart, I was hoping someone could tell me the location of the diesel fuel pump which supplies fuel to the diesel heater.

Is it attached to or located close to the heater unit itself in the front of the vehicle or is it somewhere else in the vehicle nearer the fuel tank?

Diagnostics is telling me I have a short to ground relating to the diesel heater.

The heater appears to attempt a startup sequence for 2 mins and then shuts down.

I can hear it's fan running during this time but cant hear a clicking/tapping noise which i'd expect the fuel pump to make (but maybe i'm listening in the wrong place ?!)

My guess at this stage is a fault with the water pump, diesel fuel pump or glow plug , any tips or suggestions welcomed. Is there a Westabo maintenance manual available for download somewhere?

Pretty sure the pump is external on right hand rear tank. In a rubber mount on the rear subframe.

If you do a search for 2007-2010 L322 theres a manual out there to download. Which covers it well. there are other manuals too.
I cant attach a file to help you at the moment.

Believe @backinblack did some work on his.

Glow plug problems are common on the Webasto unit, can you smell diesel from the exhaust?

I was wondering how long it would be before we had some FBH posts :D
Under the tank. It's a pulse type and you can pulse it by tapping 12v to it.
If you search online for Webasto thermotop c manual there are a number of sources.
As @Datatek says glowplug is favourite but I have a few that have various faults, water pump, circuit board etc.
There is some test software and cable that give better diagnostics.

Does anyone know if there is an app or similar that can remotely access the webasto system without spending a fortune?

Thanks for the replies, it was referring to getting a key fob or something similar as opposed to diagnostics...bit of a folly really because I don't really need to preheat the beast, I just wanted to know in case I go up to Scotland.

Some info here on how both @kds and I did it, and what we used. kds's solution was better as it had a built in timer.

Sorry @backinblack only just seen you tagged me on this thread, took the Vellman kit out the 53 plate RR and fitted it in the 08 RR I have now even though it has the telestart unit fitted I could`nt find a remote for a decent price at the time. I disconnected the telestart and wired in the Vellman as before and it works just the same, nice to see the frost melting off the screen after the FBH has done it`s thing before you drive off.

No problem, notifications are a bit hit and miss at the moment. I still have a remote but I don't know if it's that or the telestart that's faulty.
