Hi Guys, I'm just new to the forum, just bought a 2004 range rover autobiography 4.4i v8 two days ago, so new to the world of land rover too! So far I've found the forum very helpful .
I was wondering if anyone out there has come across this problem, I have a engine light on and a slight misfire, I have a bit of mechanical background and checked it with my bosch diagnostic equipment, It shows misfire on cylinder 4. I have replaced the coil on that cylinder with a new NGK one and the plugs. Cleared the fault codes and took her for a drive. The management light came on again, so after checking it again, it shows the same fault on cylinder 4. I removed the plugs again and found cylinder 4 plug wet and blackened. Next step was to push a spare plug into the coil pack and earth it on the engine, had the wife start it up and watched the plug, there was a good healthy spark at the electrode. So in my head I've ruled out the coil and plug. It happens if the engine is running on petrol or lpg (probably should have mentioned earlier that it is and lpg ), so I have ruled out fuel problem also. I'm pretty sure it's not compression either, as when I had the plugs out off that side of the engine I had the wife turn it over (very handy wife!) and there is a good bang from all four cylinders. I can notice when the engine is running and I go to the exhaust at the rear drivers side, the 'off one cylider' puff on that side.
I'm about out of ideas now, and just wondered if anyone out there had come across this on that bmw v8 before. Many thanks for taking time to read this..
