Hello,
I've not posted for a while and some of you might remember that I trashed my engine a while ago, when the auxilliary belt started to fray and the knitting it produced wound round the crank pulley and disrupted the cam timing. I've had two l-series from new as well as other Land Rover products and quite like this old girl so I purchased a new bare engine from Rimmers to keep her going a bit longer. 140k miles so far so I thought with a new engine she'll go a bit longer yet.

Anyway, many hours of outside work in wind and rain and the new engine is finally installed and amazingly it started first turn of the key. This was all the more amazing if you know that I had to change the sump, (it obviously wasn't a Freelander L series,) cam drive sprockets cam and FP belts etc etc. I ran the engine up to temp a few times, while doing some other jobs such as rebuilding front brakes and suddenly the coolant ended up on the floor. After some investigating I saw that it was leaking from the water pump joints. This is a new water pump with new o rings carefully fitted when the engine was out so plenty of room for access.

I've now removed he water pump and you all know what a PIA this is and there is no obvious reason apparent for the leaks. I'm wondering if the O rings are too thin? I didn't use silicon jointing compound, just blue non-setting. I didn't torque the bolts up but being only 8mm I guess that tight enough with 1/4'' drive is sufficient. The WP doesn't seem to be a problem with L series engines generally but it's certainly causing me some headaches. Any advice or reasonably sensible suggestions would be welcome!
