  1. Hello, my first post so be gentle

    I have a 1999 Freelander fitted with the 2l l series diesel.

Unfortunately the engine went pop and seized up.
Oil level was sky high when I checked afterwards as the coolant had dumped into the sump somehow, it stripped the engine yet but any comments to what might have happened would be welcomed.

Anyway, I've removed the engine gearbox ird on my back yard and had a secondhand engine delivered which was supposed to be a 20t2n land rover Freelander engine.

It wasn't, it's a 20t2r12n from I believe a rover 45. Now being in Portugal scrapyards don't like returned goods and the seller at swap it for the landy engine.

So I've noticed the turbo and manifold, diesel pump and oil cooler look different and I'd need to swap the adapter plate for the gearbox over too.

Plus I've noticed the sump is different.

Will the engine be ok in the landy do you think?

Can I use the injectors from the 20t2r12n and leave them in?

What would I need to swap over?

    Sorry for all the questions....

    Thank you
