Hi all,

Hope you can help me and my father. He has a 98 reg Freelander XEDi 2.0 L Series Diesel and has learnt to live with some of the problems he has but today has seen a new fault which is quite dangerous.

My dad normally uses a mix of Diesel and Biofuel and has not had any problems to date. However after filling about 30ltrs of Biofuel today, after about 5 miles his Freelander began to 'draw up' i.e. he was driving along and then it refuses to rev any further and power began to die out.

He managed to get home and instantly thought it was the Biofuel so syphoned about 30ltrs back out and attempted to get the vehicle to the local fuel station (1/4 mile away) and filled up. When he drove home the same problems occured although was slightly better than before. Upon returning to pull into our driveway the engine cut out completely. It was very very difficult to restart but eventually managed to get it off the road.

Later we both took it out and tried to give it a good booting to see if it cleared any crap out which worked initially for about 3-4 miles however the Freelander failed to rev past 3k revs so decided to head home. Once again upon turning into the drive it cut out once more. Muggings here had to push it off the road and as I am sure you are all aware, its like trying to push an elephant!!

Now before we buckle under the pressure to take it to Land Rover (how we don't know, poss have to get it trailered) do any of you wise chaps know what the problem could be?

We'd be forever in your debt if you can help.

Thanks again,

Michael & John (Dad!).
