I have a rather odd knocking sound all I can describe it being is like a anti rollbar knock. But it's more less all time even on a tarmac road and can feel it though the floor . I have wiggled all bushes on the front and cant see anything really worn the arb links slightly worn as can see a bit of rust Mark's where go through the arb itself but nothing too loose .

I still cant determine if its front or back . The watts linkage looks on scabby side but not overly worn and moving as you push the body about .
Anyone else experienced a knocking like this ?
 
Engine and/or gearbox mounts? A-bar? Shock mounts? Exhaust?(Old favourite)

Its not that sort of sound though its definitely a suspension knocking sound. I have not got a A bar on it it's the watts linkage on the rear . Unless you mean front or rear anti roll bar ?
 
I mah start process of elimination starting with front and rear arb bushes and drop links as there fairly cheap .

A watts link is not , exhaust rubbers look in good condition when had on ramp yesterday
 
Not the same, Panhard rod is a less complicated version of a Watts linkage and does the same job, i.e. it stops the axle moving sideways while allowing either end to move up or down. but as one end is faixed to the chassis and the other is fixed to the axle, it means that the axle moves in a slight arc, the Watts linkage stops this happening.
The A arm is a method of preventing the axle from rotating about it's horizontal axis under either braking or acceleration, the same function as anti-tramp bars. On the D2 there is a Panhard rod on the front and a Watts linkage on the rear. The Watts linkage is always more prone to problems as there are more moving parts and therefore more bushes and wear points.;)
 
I had that on mine a week after i bought it..

Kind of a "whub whub" noise.

You could feel it through the floor.

'twas the front wheel bearing, falling apart.
 
+1 for ARB bushes. Even though mine looked OK and didn't appear to have any play the knocking stopped when I replaced them.

It's not a "whub whub" more a " thud thud" noise . I checked the wheel bearings yesterday when up on the 4 poster. Side to side and up and down nothing at all . Span nicely. It's not a constant noise just most uneven areas on the road you hear it . " thud thud"

I hope its the ARB bushes or drop links there dead cheap . I'm not ordering anything now till new year . But on new years day il order a full set of ARB front and rear rubbers and drop links . Least there cheap !
 
I chased a similar 'knocking' with my D2 and it was the droplinks in the end.

I'm a trained horticultural and agricultural technician by trade but been working on commercial and Van's for last 8 years when work are struggling. Local authority , so can be fixing a tractor or mower etc and get asked to look at this van etc . All picked up from doing the job . But that's diversing !

This is why I originally thought sounds like a ARB related issue to me . Cant do much really now will new year . Whatever it is will not be falling off in a hurry!
 
I have a very bumpy unmade and unadopted road near me. If this sort of thing happens, I disconnect the ARB one joint at a time and very carefully, at walking pace, take it down this road. When the knocking stops, I know it is the joint I have just disconnected.

Bit off the wall but you can test drive a vehicle with no ARBs, just don't try and go flying round any bends! After all, anti-roll bars only became standard on cars after the 1950s, due to the advent of coils springs. I still have a kit car that has no rear anti-roll bars, but it is leaf sprung. With a handling kit it handles brilliantly.
